Wood Environment & Infrastructure (Wood E&IS) is recruiting Senior Level Engineers to serve as Program Manager to assist with the key energy account. This individual will be part of the overall Carolinas Operation and supporting the following: Infrastructure Design, Engineered Construction, or Environmental; while focusing mainly on the key account projects. Employee will have the flexibility to work remotely but is expected to travel to Client sites within their assigned territory on a regular basis (average 2 days a week – day trips). Daily reporting and coordination is expected with Wood’s Client Account Manager (CAM), and the Program Manager is expected to assist the CAM with the administration of portions of the overall account within Wood. Initially the main focus will be with projects and Client personnel related to CCR projects, with growth opportunities into other service lines (Transmissions, Natural Gas, Renewable Energy, etc.).

The position relies heavily on a combination of team leadership, technical, and relational qualities to succeed. As a Program Manager, you will develop relationships with existing Client personnel and become a trusted liaison for new work. Technical abilities will allow cross selling of work that generally includes: Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resources, Natural Resources, Permitting and regulatory agency requirements. You will be supported by Technical Leads for the various service lines as you develop scope with the client, and fee associated with new work (preparing proposals). In addition, you will assist the team by monitoring project execution, engaging with staff, and providing technical guidance on various projects (Project Delivery). Key Responsibilities:

• Network within Wood to gain an understanding of Wood services for the purposes of cross selling opportunities and building teams to effectively execute projects

• Willing to develop relationships with established clientele at with account and identify opportunities for new work

• Technical Expertise in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering highly preferred – with experience in CCR related projects a plus (Will consider candidates who are not engineers but can demonstrate extensive experience in CCR related projects).

• Discuss scope, fee and milestone deliveries with the client

• Prepare proposals as a collaborative effort with multiple disciplines and teams

• Conduct reviews of proposals and consistency with various contract mechanisms

• Lead internal presentations/reviews/documentation for internal authorizations to prepare and submit proposals

• Track outstanding proposals and follow up with client regarding status of approvals

• Will travel to project sites primarily in Carolina’s Approximately 20% overnight travel

• Assist with questions posed by client procurement

• Conduct a proposal kick off meeting with the Project Manager and key Technical Leads

• Advise discipline leaders of upcoming work so they can work through staff commitments

• Monitor progress of the project and provide technical advice, as needed, to keep the project team moving forward.

• Will provide civil and/or geotechnical engineering and project management, technical management and direction of site investigations and technical reports.

• Will be responsible for delivering civil, geotechnical and geologic projects and at times, analyses of slope stability, seepage analysis and LRFD foundation design so they are consistent with the scope, fee and schedule and engage Service Line Leaders where appropriate

• Review project financials to better understand actual verses budget costs associated with work to be used as context for future pursuits

• Provide program level review of invoices (generated by biller and the Project Manager) to make sure staff billing rates have been appropriately applied, expenses are consistent with contract and have appropriate backup, and unit prices have been applied.

• Understand how internal processes can be ratified to improve consistent delivery of product to our customer.

• Prepare reports detailing the status of proposals, staffing needs, and client deliverables for reports to the client account managers ,Service Line Leads, and senior Operations management on a regular basis.


• B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, and licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina preferred

• 15+ years of professional experience, and a minimum of 5 years in the energy sector

• Strong communication skills and rely on the team’s ability to respond

• High energy and delivery driven focus of a high-quality product

• Adaptable to learn the client’s delivery model and expectations and guide the team accordingly

• Ability to see interconnectivity of planning/projects relative to client’s long term goal

• Ability to rally resources and drive schedule/delivery with assistance of discipline leads and Service Line Managers

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to spot problems before they become one.

• Understanding of urgency/emergency responsiveness

• Managed client accounts of several millions of dollars

• Demonstrated leadership in a team atmosphere

• Adhere to corporate/office standards for safety and quality of work

• Ability to recognize a project’s critical path and continually plan for project success

• Experience preparing work scopes and draft proposals

Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
